Quill City Mall SOCSO Rehabilitation Centre

As an initiative of Social Security Organization (SOCSO) to further expand rehabilitation services to SOCSO Insured Persons, especially for employees in vicinity of Klang Valley, the first SOCSO Rehabilitation Centre for outpatient clients with the concept of community integration in shopping mall was opened, and started operating at Quill City Mall, Kuala Lumpur on the 11th of January 2021.

The services provided at this centre focuses on Neuro-Robotics Rehabilitation using Cyberdyne HAL® neuro-robotics technology from Japan. In addition, the centre also prioritises mental health which has a growing need nowadays by providing mental health rehabilitation programmes.

In addition, we also offer physical rehabilitation programmes that include Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy as well as Vocational Rehabilitation and Mental Health Wellness.

Rehabilitation treatment will be carried out using the following Cyberdyne HAL® neuro-robotic equipment:

  • Cyberdyne Hybrid Assistive Limb HAL® Lower Limb Type
  • Cyberdyne Hybrid Assistive Limb HAL® Single Joint Type
  • Cyberdyne Hybrid Assistive Limb HAL® Lumbar Type

Physical Rehabilitation includes comprehensive and intensive Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy treatments to ensure the client gains maximum physical ability and level of functionality in daily life or while working.

  • Pain Management Programme (electrotherapy, ultrasound).
  • Manual Therapy.
  • Therapeutic Training.
  • Re-teaching of functional movements for posture control, balance, gait and coordination.
  • Prescription of walking aids
  • Prescription of braces and limb support

  • Daily Living Activity (ADL) simulation and training
  • Technological assistance and adaptive equipment
  • Splinting
  • Hand Function Training (fine motor and dexterity)
  • Wheelchair prescription and evaluation
  • Modification of residence and workplace
  • Ergonomic consulting

At PRP Quill City Mall, the Specialized Rehabilitation Programme module focuses on the type of comprehensive treatments according to an injury or illness suffered by the client.

  1. Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation

    Musculoskeletal rehabilitation aims to make therapeutic assessments and interventions for muscles, tendons, ligaments or bones involved in injury or disease.

    The types of injuries or diseases that require musculoskeletal rehabilitation are as follows:

    • Acute and chronic pain conditions (examples: back pain and neck pain)
    • Traumatic injuries (example: fractures, dislocations, tendon, ligament and nerve injuries)
    • Sprains and strains
    • Arthritis
    • Recurrent stretching injuries (example: tendinitis, Carpal Tunnel syndrome)
    • Joint replacement
    • Osteoporosis
  2. Neurological Rehabilitation

    Neurological Rehabilitation focuses on assessments and interventions for clients with neurological disorders particularly those involving the brain and spinal cord.

    This treatment is important in ensuring a comprehensive level of independence and functionality for an individual despite suffering from disabilities such as paralysis, weakness, loss of coordination and balance, decreased muscle tone, cognitive and visual impairment.

    The types of injuries that can be treated through the Neurological Rehabilitation approach are:

    • Stroke
    • Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
    • Spinal Cord Injury
    • Infectious Diseases such as Meningitis, Encephalitis, Polio, and Brain Abscesses.
    • Neuromuscular related diseases such as Muscular dystrophy, Bell’s Palsy, Myasthenia Gravis, and Guillain-Barré syndrome
    • Brain or spinal cord tumours.
    • Degenerative disorders such as Parkinson's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Alzheimer's Disease, and Huntington's Chorea.
  3. Amputee Rehabilitation

    The primary goal of rehabilitation after loss of limb is to enable individuals to function using prosthetic devices and improve social integration as well as work readiness.

    Amputee Rehabilitation includes the following:

    • Post-Operative Rehabilitation
    • Pre-Prosthetic Rehabilitation
    • Prosthetic Prescriptions
    • Prosthetic Training
    • Community Integration Training
    • Vocational Rehabilitation
    • Postpartum Rehabilitation Programme
  4. Postpartum Rehabilitation Programme

    This Postpartum Rehabilitation Programme aims to provide rehabilitation to mothers who have given birth. With the help of appropriate exercise, each mother will be assisted by a professional therapist to improve the physical abilities that have been affected during pregnancy.

    The importance of this programme is as follows:

    • Increase the strength and function of the pelvic floor muscles
    • Improve urinary incontinence and pelvic organ decline that occurs after childbirth.
    • Increase the strength and mobility of the body in order to perform activities that were often done before pregnancy.
    • Provide emotional and psychological support to new mothers.

The Aging and Geriatric Wellness Programme is specifically designed to shape and maintain levels of ability and functionality for the well-being of seniors through physical exercise and psychological support.

Each of these programmes contain a series of active exercise modules and group support activities that offer prosperity to seniors.

The main purpose of the Mental Health Programme is to create emotional, cognitive and social management skills that can help individuals plagued with psychosocial problems to overcome challenges in their daily lives.

The programme serves to help individuals live life independently and work well. Among them are:

  • To learn new knowledge or re-learn life skills.
  • Increase self-confidence.
  • To go through various scenarios and challenges in daily life.
  • To have a comfortable and independent life.

Among the individuals who may need Mental Health services are as follows:

  • Individuals who require help to ensure their full recovery after treatment.
  • Individuals with disabilities and in need of ongoing assistance in their daily lives.
  • Individuals in need of solid support and aid.
  • Individuals who do not have the resources or environment that supports them to function well.

Vocational Rehabilitation aims to help individuals with disabilities return to work through structured modules and training programmes.

The programme covers various services such as Vocational Assessment, Specific training modules, Upskilling & Reskilling, Improvement Courses, On-Site Job Training, Career Counselling, Job Search as well as job requirements and modifications.
